Project that was most successful: The project that I feel came out the best, or that was the most successful was my portrait drawing of Marilyn Monroe. For this project, I used drawing pencils for my medium. This drawing took quite awhile and I still feel that there was more I could have done on it. The first thing that I did for this project was find the picture and draw out the grid lines on my paper. From there, I started to draw the outline of all of Marilyn's features. Then, I went in with the darkest pencil and I started to color in all of the places on her face that had the darkest shades. I then blended the darkest shades into the lightest shades and went back and added all of the details that I was missing. The reason that I think this project turned out the most successful is because even though there are some things that I feel I could have done better, I still put my best effort into it and I came out with a piece that I am proud of and that I know I worked hard on it. Sketchbook: The sketchbook activity that I found the most interesting was the nature art (not sure if that is the right name). By incorporating items from nature into simple sketches, it really makes you use your imagination. That is one of the things that I really liked about this warm up. What I did for my picture is I drew a ballerina and made a flower her hair, and yellow daisy's her skirt. The reason that I choose this warm up over all of the other ones is because I felt that there were more possibilities for this one and I also enjoyed this warm up more then the others. To go along with that, I felt that I could really expand on this one and create bigger and better pieces.Project most developed from: The project that I feel most helped me improve was the charcoal project. Before we started that project, I had absolutely no idea how to use charcoal or even what most of the materials were. After we were done with the project, I had learned many different techniques and how to use these materials properly. I even learned a couple tricks on how to blend the charcoal and how to incorporate dark values and light values. Even though I feel that my project did not turn out the best, it helped me learn a new type of medium that I can now use in the future. Most enjoyed medium: The medium that i most enjoyed working with is the graphite pencils. I liked using pencils because when you are drawing something, you can show the shades of everything in the picture. By drawing it in pencil and just smearing the led for effects, it really gives the picture a new perspective. I also enjoyed working with the pencils the most because I felt that i picked this up more easily then the other mediums. I found it easier to envision what I wanted to do and to bring it to life. The medium that I did not use but wish I had explored was plaster. I have used plaster before but I feel that now that I have a little bit more experience with art, I could create something bigger and better. Also, I wish that I could have explored this medium because I feel that with some projects, they would have come out better with a medium like this. Do over: If given the opportunity, I would redo my duct tape dress. Even though I feel that the dress did turn out alright, there were still many mistakes that if I were to redo it, I would fix. The first thing that I would do if i were to redo it, is to plan it out more. I kind of just jumped into this project without much planning at all. I just got some duct tape and a piece of fabric and went from there. I would also take better measurements to make sure that everything was proportional. In conclusion, if i were to redo this project, I would correct all the mistakes that came with my poor planning.

I choose the option that I did because I've always wanted to draw a portrait picture and because I follow a lot of people that draw on Instagram and I always thought that their portraits were really cool. The most challenging part of this project was getting the proportions right on all of the elements of the face. I had a really hard time getting the eyes and the lips the right size. I think that this part of the drawing was the most challenging because with the grid method, I had estimate where the parts of the face were located in the squares. Overall, I think that this piece turned out pretty good. You can tell that it is Marilyn Monroe and you can tell where all the different shading is. This drawing turned out pretty much how I envisioned it except for the eyes. I thought that the eyes would have turned out darker then they did and that they would have had more detail on them. I really enjoyed this project and I hope I can do something like it again some day. I stand for dreams because having dreams can help you achieve greatness in life.
(picture is stuck on camera) The word that my art journal represents is balloon. I think it is successful in representing this word because it is a picture of a hot air balloon. The first layer that I put on here is tissue paper. I used the colors blue, purple and green. I used the tissue paper because I thought that it would make a really good base for the rest of he balloon. The next layer I put on my art journling is the see through drawing paper. I drew my design on the drawing paper then cut it out and glued it down to my paper. I did this to cover up with the mistakes from the tissue paper and to make it look like the balloon stands out more. From there I started to fill in the details of the balloon with different objects. I used beads in one of the spaces to make it look like the balloon was sticking out at you. I used ink with bubble wrap in another space because I thought it would just add some cool detail and I added some string. With the string, I pulled it apart first so that it would add more volume to the balloon. Overall, I think that this project turned out pretty good, and I would definitely do it again in the future.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgReS-3_xek For this project, I worked with Zoe and Shaelyn. we each had different roles in the making of this project. Zoe, Shaelyn and I all worked to set up the major scene changes. While taking the pictures, I switched the objects around to make it look like they were moving in the pictures and Zoe and Shaelyn took turns taking the pictures. I think that overall the video turned out to be a success. You were able to tell what the video was about and see the different uses of the candy. The thing from this project that I would change if we were going to do it again is the amount of scenes we had. I would want to add more scenes to better tell the story and to elaborate on what happened in the story. The limitation that I had for my project was only using duct tape and a cloth. With these two objects, I decided to create a duct tape dress. There were few problems that I came across while doing this project, but there were still some small issues. One of the main problems I had was starting the actual dress. I had no idea where to start and where to go from the starting point. The way I over came this problem was just by wrapping the cloth around the mannequin, then cutting and pinning it so that it fit it the way i wanted to. From there I just started to wrap the duct tape around it. Another one of the bigger problems I had was with creating the design on the dress. I had laid out the basic parts of it, but I did not know how to make it look like it was just thrown together. To solve this problem, I cut out the design on the dress, then I covered it in another layer of duct tape to make it look neater.
Object Art:
From this piece of art, I have learned many different things. One of the most important things that I have learned from this is that you can make art out of just about anything. By incorporating different aspects of art into a piece, you can come out with a truly amazing end product. Using this medium/ style in this artwork, it has opened my eyes to other possibilities. You can really imagine that the flowers are the skirt and the purple flower is the hair. One thing that I might consider changing if i were to do this piece again is the flowers on the skirt. I do not think i should have cut the stems on the flowers. If I had left the stems on, I would have incorporated them into the outfit and made it look like they were wrapping around the dancers body. Clay Animal: What I learned about this clay piece is how difficult it is to actually make things out of clay. There are so many different things that you have to do to make a simple feature on the object that you are creating. I think that the piece I made did turn out pretty successful. Even though I do not believe it is the greatest thing I could have created, anyone looking at the piece could easily tell what it was. If I were to do this piece again, one thing that I might consider changing is the openings to the piggy bank. I would have measured them up against something instead of just cutting them freehand. Another thing I would have done is make sure that the surface of the piece was all smooth. I had many bumps and ridges on my piece and that made it difficult to paint it in certain areas. By doing this project, I have learned some of the different techniques of clay and how it works. Using this knowledge, I can now work to improve future pieces. Newspaper Art: What I learned from this piece is that newspaper art is a lot harder then it looks. It also takes a lot more time. Taking pieces of newspaper and gluing them down one by one is very time consuming and difficult. It is hard to find the right shaped piece of newspaper to fit onto certain objects. I think my piece turned out pretty good. You can see what I was trying to make with it. If i were to redo this piece, something that i would change on it would probably be the outer edges of the symbol. They looked a little bit sloppy, so i would just clean them up a little bit. Over all, this project turned out pretty good. Many people wonder what is the difference between "stealing" something and getting inspiration from an object is. In my opinion stealing something is taking every idea the other person had and putting your name on it. Stealing is something that you do when you are too lazy to come up with your own ideas or want to take credit for something that someone else did. Getting inspiration from an object or a piece of art work is taking the gerneral idea of what someone did and bits and pieces of it and making it your own. Getting inspiration from something requires you to work to make something that you can be proud of. I do think it is ok to "take" little bits and pieces of other people's art work if you do something to make it your own and if you do credit your source.
For my final project, I combined the two disney characters Elsa and Anna. I decided to combine these pieces because for one of my illustration Friday pictures I drew Elsa and I thought it would be really cool if I could combine this character and her sister into one. I also kind of "took" the idea from a post I saw on Pinterest of the two characters together. I decided to paint my picture with acrylic paint because I thought that it would go better with my picture and that it would be easier to make all of the colors that I needed to complete the piece. If I were to change one thing about my piece, it would probably be the medium. This medium was not as easy as I thought it would be to use and I feel like my piece would have looked a lot better with water color. The thing that I think turned out the best on my piece was the eyes. The eye color was really hard to mix but it ended up turning out ok. Over all I really liked this project. Out of all the mini projects that we have done this unit, the project that was the hardest was the charcoal drawing. The reason that I thought that this drawing was the hardest is because of all the blending and the values of the drawing. I had a really hard time getting darker values and lighter values into the drawing.
For my final project, I drew three objects that represent me. I drew my dog, a softball, and a jumprope. To draw this, I took a picture of a my dog with a ball in her mouth and drew her. Then I changed the tennis ball in her mouth to a softball and drew a jump rope in the background. I came up with this idea by just looking through the pictures on my phone to find something to represent me. I was having a really hard time trying to come up with three objects and how to place them. For this project, I did try something new that I was not sure of. I tried drawing a living thing. I thought that it was pretty hard to do and I struggled on many aspects of it. As for the medium of this project, I used shading. I am some what familiar with this medium because I used it last year in art and from just drawing at home by myself. Overall, this project and all of the mini projects were a lot of fun to do and I really enjoyed it. These photographs (on the right) were taken by Rachel Sussman, a photographer that is based in Brooklyn, New York. Rachel has researched and worked with biologists since 2004 to try to find living organisms that are 2000 years old or older and has traveled to their locations to photograph them. Rachel's artwork is very inspiring to me. The way that she has captured the beauty of these landscapes is amazing. The objects positions in these photos make them look like there is more then there is to the actual picture. She has taken beautiful places and makes it seem like you are actually there, and if possible, she enhanced the beauty of the location through the picture. The way that these photographs are captured really drew me in and it has inspired me to try to capture the same beauty in whatever I am photographing or drawing.
